Hair Black or White

The  Hair Industry is very viable economically and will always be.  It takes nine months to a year to graduate, 85% of 100 graduate and 75% working in salons and 25% are working from home.

The industry is and has always been black or white, even the products. Now manufactures are designing hair care products that anyone can use. Example Wen Hair Care is establishing a reputation that their products are for anyone.  Whether its Afros or Weaves of the week hair has long had the power to set trends and reflect societal attitudes.

In 1444 Europeans trade on the west coast of Africa with people wearing elaborate hairstyles, including locks, plaits and twists. Authors describe a time when black barbers served White clientele and were unwilling to service Black clientele.

Here we are today 2012 and we are still separated in this industry. It is an ideal time to explore how we Phoenix Focus Hair Expo will bring together this industry by standing on diversity.  Here is a quote used by Edmond Murray & Assoc. PLLC., that  diversity, when utilized correctly, positively impacts the bottom line of an organization in its ability to view the business differently, open new resources, expand market share and it’s ability to act as a preventative measure for costly mistakes, bad publicity and unwarranted discrimination law suits.

Phoenix Focus Hair Expo is a Trade Show that stands on diversity.  Giving you the opportunity to be connected with a growing networking solution that is a key marketing component and sales mechanism helping to produce more revenue.

If you’re in the business of hair and have a product or just want to let people know about your business, then Phoenix Focus Hair Expo is where you want to be.  Our doors will open and will bring over two thousand and more attendees to your booth. Phoenix Focus Hair Expo was created by Denise Foreman on February 5, 2012. Having a love and passion for the hair industry as a Stylist for 25 years, she sees  the need to bring back education, professional work ethics, salon etiquette and styling techniques required to keep the salons open.
Phoenix Focus Hair Expo will be held on April 6,7, 2013 at the Convention Center, holding 100 booths that are being sold to educators, stylist, barbers, manufactures, producers of new products, spas, salon equipment, nails, skin, and health products. By herself, with determination of motivation has already surpassed what is necessary to make Phoenix Focus Hair Expo a profitable success. Now having a team as “representatives” that help generate a bring aboard those necessary to accomplish the goals set to sell 100 booths, makes it all a conclusive success. The “Representatives“ have already established a revenue stream and has only been aboard one month.

Phoenix Focus Hair Expo is in a field of it’s own. There are others trade shows that have been around for 65 years and still going, but the difference is they are a diversified company. Not seeing just black, but every ethnic group that makes the world go round. Hair is not just black or white it is people and until we all come to realize what our industry is about we are failing as a Professional Cosmetologist/Barber.

A New Year! A New beginning!

The grim reality today revolves around the beauty shops and salons that women walk in day by day.  The dismissive attitude, the slow customer service, and the in- attention to detail is felt abroad. Have you ever been somewhere where you’ve felt out of place? This happens when a salon lacks diversity. Salons have become a gray area because they only cater to one ethnic group. As an African American woman, I can recall so many experiences of beauty salons to treat my hair. Take for instance, Boston, Massachusetts, it has been rumored that there are no black beauty salons. If an African American woman wanted to have her hair done, she would have to get it done out of the service of a home, or in a nearby state. Beauty salons should be well rounded to do all hair types, and that’s not meaning particularly a person of one ethnicity. This also pertains to those of mixed races.  Not being diverse in all hair types is the same as throwing money out of the window… And who can afford THAT in THIS economy?

Here we are today 2013 and we are still separated in this industry. It is an ideal time to explore how we, Phoenix Focus Hair Expo, will bring together this industry by standing on diversity.

Children First

Children First Academy of Phoenix

Children First

Homelessness is a growing problem throughout the world, the United States and Arizona. There are 29,611 homeless children in our state and approximately 4,000 of those children are in Maricopa County.

Homelessness is a devastating experience for families. It disrupts virtually every aspect of family life, damaging physical and emotional health, and interfering with a child’s development and education.

Phoenix Focus Hair Expo is an organization that stands for diversity/philanthropy and we are hoping that you join our team and help us help thousands of children get help with life. We are asking if you would allow us to name your store/business as one of our “drop-off” location in the valley.  A list will be attached so that those items needed the most can help us reach our goal higher than ever.

Allowing us this opportunity in your store/business will let the community know that you recognize that educating children requires more than a classroom, desk and textbooks. It requires YOU!

My Research

I have been researching trying to find the right organization that sincerely needs help.  Well I not only found one, but one that is so over looked in our society, that I feel embarrassed to talk about it, but upset enough that I need to talk about it.  Did you know that homelessness is a growing problem through out the world, the United States and Arizona? There are 29,611 homeless children in our state and approximately 4,000 of those children are in Maricopa County.  It’s not their choice.  Homelessness is a devastating experience for families.  It disrupts virtually every  aspect  of family life, damaging physical and emotional health, and interfering with a child’s development and education.  According to the U.S Department  of Education nearly one million schoolchildren are homeless in 2009-10 School year, up 38 percent in four years.

Phillip Lovell, Vice President of National Children Advocacy Group First Focus stated that ” we need a significant policy response to solve this problem.  Everyone needs to be involved.

Phoenix Focus Hair Expo organization stands for diversity/philanthropy.  Our event is not until next year April, 2013 and we will donate proceeds to Children First Academy, but we have decided not to wait, we are wanting to help now!   Our Sponsorship Program will help us/you move faster toward a necessary need for children that have no voice.  Information on our “Sponsorship Why? For..” go to http://phoenixfocushairexpo.com/?p=52 and become a Sponsor or donate to Children First Foundation, Reserve Fund , 14605 Horne, Mesa AZ. 85204 .

If you live in Phoenix, Arizona and would like to help,  donation are being excepted at  any CVS Pharmacy. For more locations, please

call 623-498-5883.    Volunteers will assist in classrooms, with office operations or with the students on the playground.  Mentors: men are needed to  help with social development.

As Phoenix Focus Hair Expo grows we hope that you can become part of our team believing “that diversity, when utilized correctly, positively impacts the bottom line of an organization in its ability to view the business differently and open new resources.” A quote we use stated by Edmond & Assoc. PLLC.

Just the truth

I’ve been in the Hair Industry for 22 years and I still seek education, and new techniques to improve my skills. My reason for creating a new business is, I feel there is not enough education out there after graduation. Yes, there are hair shows, but frankly, they are so badly put together you walk away made. Well, at least I do. So, I have started creating a expo for the hair industry. The hair industry is Black or White and I feel if you consider yourself a professional in this field you should be able to do any hair type. Hair is Hair. Yes, education is the key. So my new company is marketing to anyone that wants to show, teach, promote their techniques to a open market under one roof. My passion is to eliminate the theory because your white you can’t do black hair or vice versa. The products we use are changing, so I feel a hair stylist should change. Phoenix Focus Hair Expo will be held in Phoenix, Arizona on April 7-8, 2013. I am also looking for investor that are in the hair industry that can come abroad and make a difference.Image

Do you have something to say??

Do you have something to say??

Do you have something to say??

As members of the Las Vegas Hair Industry, sometimes we feel the need to share what we know with others for many reasons. That is why I started this blog. I know alot of the leaders in this cities industry. I have been told I am one of them. Even though I know alot about what goes on in the Las Vegas Hair Industry, I don’t know it all. If you wish to share anything that would help your industry from the amazing or horrible unprofessional stylists and salons to events or classes to help provide education, please feel free to contact us and we will make Las Vegas aware.  I have chosen to keep this page anonymous for just that reason, so I can speak freely without consequence. Im a six figure a year, well known stylist, so Im protecting myself from anyone that could be upset at me for unveiling the truth. after all the truth doesn’t always benefit everyone. but the truth good or bad shall be revealed here. That is my promise to you. Please take this seriously,I don’t necessarily have the time to do this, but I have made time because I feel that the city deserves it.

These were used by Vagashairscene. on September 18,2008. So, Not being the only one that feels the hair industry is falling, I follow up by saying….

I too feel that the hair industry has failed and this is why I have decided to bring a Hair Expo to Phoenix, Arizona. I don’t know it all either., What I do know is that it is time for change. Hair Black or White sets trends and the industry is always growing . What I feel is ” if you feel your are a professional in hair industry, then why can’t you do all types. Why, because we set ourselves apart in our learning ability, We stop educating ourselves after graduation.

There are over thousands of Salon, Barber shops, and School across the country all teaching and hoping to achieve the same goals.  Phoenix Focus  has found the right word  that will help bring this industry together… that is DIVERSITY. WEBSTER DICTIONARY MEANS: multiplicity with difference, variety, to identify.  With this  is being said, I am looking for those you want to identify who they are in this world of beauty.

We (people) are beautiful in all kinds of ways and the real truth is are you with a hair stylist, barber, that can really enhance your beauty on the outside and make you really feel beautiful on the inside…

Our jobs are to enhance you, in and out.  I have been told several times that  you are my “Therapeutist”. and I know it has been said to you.  So, why don’t we take charge and become who we are?.  We have spent time, money, and basic education to get to that six dollar figure, but yet we stand still on just the basic.  If you really wanting to upgrade your mind and your money then it is time to make a change and get better education and techniques by coming to Phoenix Focus Hair Expo, that stands on diversity and make the difference work.
